kureiff, I feel so bad when I want to like something and for it to succeed but it isn't all that great. We had considered going to Glacier Distilling and now I am not sorry to have given it a pass.

We went to a few Ranger Talks while at the park. The quality of the talk depends on the ranger leading it. We attended one about water and the park that was led by a novice speaker which was informative but not terribly engaging. On the other hand, we went to a presentation at the Nature Center at Lake McDonald and had the most dynamic, engaging speaker who gave a presentation on arthropods (shout out to Ranger Omar Lopez!!--I sent an email to the Park service afterwards complimenting how great he was).

There is also an extra special ranger in the park named Gracie. Here she is:

She is a Bark Ranger--she has been trained as a no-touch herder for the wildlife on Logan Pass. The park regularly has a problem with the bighorn sheep and the mountain goats hanging out in the parking lot there. That creates dangerous situations for wildlife and visitors so Gracie will go out in the mornings and herd them back to safe areas. The morning we met her there was no herding necessary so she was just doing PR. She was a sweetie and petting is allowed!

Thanks for this. I’m a big fan of Montana and loved our Glacier trip a while back.

Great pics and great report. GNP is on my bucket list, although I think my strenuous hiking days are behind me.
Gracie looks a lot like Stormy, the Aussie I used to have. She loved working, and would herd my toddlers away from my fireplace.

GNP can be enjoyed without doing any strenuous hiking! It's beautiful to simply drive through it. I love the image of your Aussie herding toddlers, so cute!
