A bar Bogey would hang out in...
Looking for a cool bar that is reminiscent of a by-gone era. The type of place that is smoke filled - I know, the second hand smoke will kill you - with a few white-clothed tables. A jazz singer with a small accompanying trio or a piano. In an historic hotel would be great. Any suggestions? Thanks

Two come to mind in Saratoga Springs NY. First is the hotel bar at the Adelphia, a late 1800's hotel with beautiful marble topped bar and during racing season, plenty of beautiful people. Also in town is the Metro. Front end downstairs is a rock bar, up a few steps in the back is a disco, but in the real upstairs is a jazz/piano bar with white table cloths, enormous windows, potted plants, white painted brick walls and old wooden floors. Very classy and if the right group is playing has the very ambience I think of when envisioning Bogey hanging out.

Forgot to mention the Cafe Carlyle in NYC with Bobby Short playing. I haven't been there but have the impression that it's that sort of place - better have deep pockets - it's $30 each justr to sit at the bar for his show and that dosn't include drink minimum. I'm also told that the bar at Hotel Algonquin in NY is tres kewl and old-fashioned classy.
