We have been gone for over a month so in the process of sorting old mail. The Oct issue of 5280 listed their annual 25 best restaurants in Denver and Boulder. Very interesting list. Some of the old standbys are nowhere to be seen.

This will give you a starting point for your food search.

That is really interesting and I'll send to my departed restaurant kids.
Sushi Den--I've gone there since the late 90s for anyone who is interested. Fruition.
I think Barolo is still good. Lots of good eating in denver. Thanks for the link

The Great American Beer Festival in Denver just wrapped up this weekend with a bunch of awards for local Denver breweries. See list --

Gretchen - Barolo is down to 23rd and Fruition (if I remember correctly) didn't make the list. There is a whole batch of new restaurants that I have never heard of or visited. Going to have to get busy.

I looked at some of the list--and thought Fruition made it. But for Barolo, I would go with tried and true and reliable for Italian--not new and flashy!! LOL
We don't get to Denver as much any more, much to my sadness--to give these a try--and our set of kids who KNOW restaurants are here--with their own restaurant--so we don't get the latest report.
Hope to be there before too long however.

The OP mentioned breweries, so this is totally off subject. Here is the full list of GABF winners, you can sort by state, town, brewery:

Interestingly about two months ago I bought a Breck Brewery Avalanche Ale, one I've enjoyed in the past but hadn't had in a long time. It was one of few craft drafts where we were having dinner. I thought it tasted like crap and decided to write them to see if they changed anything.
Then I saw they had been bought out by Anheuser-Busch in the last year. Lesson learned, that trend is not good for the craft industry.
