72 Hours in Las Vegas

My mother in law and her new boyfriend are going to vegas for 3 days next week. I go all the time, but usually with several buddies. I'd be interested to hear from folks in their 60's about what they enjoyed doing, and what they suggest avoiding. Resto recommendations would be very much appreciated. I hear the wax museum at venetian is pretty cool, what other exhibits would you recommend? thanks a bunch!

This morning's Seattle Times included suggestions for free fun things to do. I don't know about the cheap restaurants mentioned in the article, except that the buffet at Paris sounds like something your mother would enjoy.

I'm in my 50's, though here's what I liked.
-- Spending time at Paris, eating at the 24 hr. cafe, Crepe place and Mon Ami Gabi. I want to try the buffet next time. The Eiffel tower ride and view was enjoyable.
-- I went to the Mde Toussaint's wax museum, and thought it was pretty fun.
-- the gardens at the Bellagio, and seeing all the Dale Chihuly glass sculptures was great.
-- NYNY is fun to walk around as are the Forum shops at Ceasars.

Yes, the Bellagio suggestions are on the mark--two of my favorites.

Also, when I visit Las Vegas, I like to take in the wonderful crystal chandeliers in the reception room for the Paris Hotel. They make quite a spectacular display.

The wax museum is pretty good since you are allowed to pose next to with the figures and take pictures. I did this and I fooled friends into thinking I met the celeb in person. Note, you can purchase tickets for half price at the half price outlets.

Another non-gambling suggestion is Harrah's where inside they have dueling piano players/sing alongs. It is a very fun interactive experience. This is right inside Harrahs. You can see the piano's from the walk on the strip.

OK, first of all "folks in their 60's" are not old (no, you did not say that, but I kind of have that feeling from your post), so in most cases they can enjoy anything any other age group can !! Most of the clubs (i.e. Tangerine, Tryst, Pure, etc.) are geared toward younger people but the rest of Vegas is geared toward anyone who wants to spend money, regardless of age, trust me on that - I go to Vegas several times a year.

The wax museum is fun, all the shopping at Caesars, Venetian, etc. is fun, the Secret Garden at the Mirage is fun, the lions at MGM are fun,the floral displays at the Bellagio are fun, going to the top of the Eiffel Tower is fun, the list goes on, on, and on.

Of course there is gambling, drinking and eating -- all fun too (in moderation )

Let your mother-in-law and boyfriend just go and decide for themselves what interests them...you may be surprised !!
