5 year anniversary...looking for affordable weekend getaway

Hi there. On December 12th, it is my 5 year wedding anniversary with my beautiful wife. But like everyone, times are tough right now. Can anyone help me out? Im interested in like maybe a cozy, romantic bed and breakfast, or a hotel that has activities near New York city. Im willing to go out of state, just as long as its not too too far. Does anyone have any suggestions??? Please help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

Once we drove NYC to Wash,DC for an anniversary; the hotel was a few stops away on the Metro(no parking worries); most meals were simple and the days spent at our National museums(free) - best part was just the 2 of us at a slower pace and no strollers!

Another anniversary weekend was a stay at a Marriott Hotel in Poughkeepsie, NY and a wonderful meal at the Culinary Institute of America; walks and window shopping nearby.

It would help to know what kind of budget you have in mind, where exactly you're located (do you live in the city?) and what kind of things you like (ie antiqueing and dining or outdoorsy stuff?) Do you have a car? If not, would you rent a car or do you need someplace that accomodates public transportation. How many nights do you want to go for? (some places may have minimum stays).

In the meantime, here is a post from last year with some interesting options
