daydreamin, if you haven't already, be sure to check out makai1's recent trip report and photos. When you look at her photos and read her reports makes you wish you had been the sis with her on the trip! Just gives me goose bumps.
Honeychile, you ain't even gonna be able to sit still until June!
Aloha to all the Klubbers!

HI, i2
...nobody has called me "honeychile" since I lived in North Carolina! I love it! And I did read makai1's report & her pictues as well as lvk's were just amazing, weren't they.
makai1 - your's and lvk's pictures really did make up our minds. Thank you so much
NORTH SHORE IT IS!! WOO HOO!
Yes, Bill....ALLLL that rain! Aren't we the biggest fools?!?!
kana999--no Rain, no Rainbows!!
...what a great thought! I will check out your recommendations!
Anyone else have recommendations for lodging on the north shore? We're really up in the air. A resort like HBR looks good, because we play tennis almost every day & their courts look good. And the onsite restaurant (AND bar
) look good too. As does their beach.
Then again, a secluded spot sounds pretty inticing too!
OH NO! Another decision!!
Ya'll are GREAT! Mahalo, everyone!

daydreamin, you need to hurry and tell us how the planning is coming!
It appears the Klub has been banned and our Kahuna is not going to speak to this matter of staying in a hell hole for 5 weeks!
Never had a clue I would be missed, but thanks for saying so, makai1(the sh*t disturber that you are!).
Are we all groupies? or is it still a klique? I am so confused....but still very jealous of anyone who is staying in THAT place for 5 weeks!

The last several posts on this thread are representative of the silly babble that some of us object to, when it goes on and on. Someone just checking this site out for Kauai information my shake their head at the silliness and never explore further than this thread. Too bad since I am sure this is not Fodor's idea of travel talk.

You know what leelane? I'm giving you a link to my trip report. It has lots of humour and SENSELESS banter in it, but you know what? It also has some danged good points.
Like...read between the lines and you will know not to hike in the rain....Like our favorite restaurants...like where we stayed...
Take out the banter from everyone and all you have is a bunch of boring sentences that are just that...boring.
I also hope iamq and makai1 will provide the threads to their very informative trip reports...makai1's photos and her writing style will absolutely bring tears to your eyes...enjoy them all...along with the banter...oh...and IVK needs to also to provide her thread..
Here's mine...enjoy

I did not say that all the Kauai clique posts were unhelpful. I am talking about the ones that "drivel" on and on. Suppose one of those is the one a new browser on the Board clicks on? I think that you get carried away, and some people may misunderstand you.

Hi daydreamin
What a delicious dilemma you have. We're just back from our first trip to HI -- sure it won't be our last. We finished up with 8 days on Kauai: 4 in Princeville, 4 in Poipu. In P-ville we rented a very nice condo through Princeville Vacations, and helpful Lori Patch set that up for us.
In Poipu we also rented a condo. I really wanted Poipu Sands, but the specific unit I was after (from vrbo) would never respond, even after several phone calls and emails. I gave up, and went with Suite Paradise instead. We reserved a "1 BR extra deluxe ocean front" and were, I have to say, very disappointed. No-one mentioned that all 1BR oceanfront units are ground floor only -- really, more like a "garden apartment" would be in a city. The living room with big sliders faced the patio and a lawn with the beach path to the Hyatt, Shipwreck Beach at the end of the path. No privacy at all. You couldn't have breakfast in your jammies, or sit in the evening with the sliders open (and there was no A/C, just ceiling fans.) Lower window panels were jalousies with broken screens, and would not close properly. The wind sure howled through there! Bedroom was in the back, with broken jalousie windows covered by blinds -- bit like being in a cave. We stayed one night, then moved to a different condo, not oceanfront, in another part of the giant Poipu Kai property. SP folks were helpful, but at short notice our options were pretty limited. It was the least enjoyable part of our trip. What made Poipu good was the proximity to the Hyatt, where we mostly hung out. Next time, we'll save hard and stay there, I hope ;-)
My trip report will be forthcoming once work permits...

Hi I'2, welcome back! See what you missed!
.
There are already links to my photos and my trip report on this thread. In fact, daydreamin has already thanked me for both. I guess she found some helpful info. there among the cliquish drivel.
Or wait, maybe she just has a sense of humor.

Aloha SBTravlr!! Welcome back... we'll be watchin for your report with anticipation...
LeeLani, maybe you should read through this thread from start to finish... you'll see that daydreamin, the poster who started this thread, said back on 9/21/05, "As a new Fodorite, this has been great! Mahalo to you all!!" She obviously wasn't "put off", confused or mislead by the banter and fun... she happened to join in and have a "ball" herself. So did a few other "newbies". Check it out.
If it's too much "drivel" for you, then don't read it. As glowbug shared in the "humorless" thread freedom of speech is a wonderful thing.
I doubt fodors needs thread "police" on every Hawaii thread. There's a little too much crankiness and humorless "drivel" going on around here if you ask me. Let's lighten up... it's the aloha spirit!
