For all of your regulars to SAnta Fe - One of my best friends from college wants to pkan a girls weekend there in Jan. I know it is cold but is it blustery cold where we will be miserable walking around?
I will be reading a screen play she wrote when I am there - (that I happen to be in!!) so we will mostly be doing that and a spa day and good eating!!
The time of year concerns me though - almost wondering if we should go to a warmer climate and save Santa Fe for warmer days..... any opinions!

The days should be sunny and that sun makes it feel warmer than what the thermometer shows. It may be windy, it could snow - all possibilities in January. The nights will be cold,no doubt about that part.
Will you be driving? Are you used to driving in the snow? They don't do as great a job cleaning the roads here as they do in other areas that have snow [i.e., we lived in suburbia outside NY City and they had the roads plowed, sanded and virtually clean and dry in short order.
They don't sand roads here or deice them with salt - they usually used some cinder type material mixed with dirt.
Winter here is dry, the snow is powdery. It is a beautiful in its own way. But Santa Fe in January is winter, no two ways about it. If you will are content not to travel to much, to stay close the the plaza, where everything you need will be in walking distance [so you don't have to drive]; it could be a MAGICAL weekend.
If I can help with particulars, feel free to ask.

Thanks DEb! I would raather go when it is warmer out but if I postpone it it may never happen - you know those things go!!
I wil fly in - not sure about renting a car or not yet....
I think a casita with a fireplace would be fabulous! I may pick your brain on some ideas to stay!!
Not sure what our budget is yet - since it is after the Holidays we may want to tone it down price wise!
