4 Star Strip Hotel Preferences?

Hi,
I am looking at Paris, New York, New York, MGM for 4 star hotels and then the Monte Carlo. Any preferences would be appreciated. I'm going for a 40th bday with four sisters. TI is booked and Mandalay is too far. Bellagio and others are too much. I really only care about the room being clean, new, fresh, matching furniture, carpet that isn't nasty. Thoughts? Thanks!

We just got back and stayed at Planet Hollywood and thought it was great. Hardly any lines at check-in or for cabs, big new sports book, and lots of good shops. We were in one of the not-yet-remodeled rooms (still had magic carpets and Aladdin's lanterns), but it was really big, with a great view of the Bellagio fountains and a huge bathroom. You might check and see about the availablity of new rooms. Their new rooms are brand new.

This is good info. I just realized we're going when super bowl is happening so things are booking up. I appreciate it. Thanks!

OMG, I thought Planet Hollywood was disgusting (was booked there by my co.). So dirty, that I walked out and went to another hotel.

Monte Carlo is my least favorite of the four you listed. MGM is a good spot, but enormous with 5,500 rooms. Paris has style, and is reasonably sized. I have not stayed at NY, NY.

hills27...Planet Hollywood dirty? Huh? Care to elaborate?

Our room there was fine, with a huge bathroom that a couple of bathroom-hogging women staying together would love. And view of the Bellagio fountains.

We have not stayed at the others you mention, but we like Paris very much. Has a more "intimate" feel than many other hotels, has an unbelievably good buffet, esp for a great brunch (and we do not generaly eat at buffets, so that is high praise from me) *and* has the great advantage that when you walk out the front door, you are actually on the strip, as opposed to a football-field length driveway. AND you are on the strip in a very central walkable location. It would definitiely be my choice, esp for a girls' trip!!

We have stayed at The Paris and MGM and I would definitely choose the MGM again. The rooms were very spacious and nicely done. Also, the MGM has some fabulous restaurants. Enjoy your trip!

This is why I love this board! So many opinions and experiences. Location and cleanliness are all I care about so I'll lean toward MGM and Paris. I'd rather be at the Venetian but this time of year it costs a small fortune. Thanks so much everyone!

I have stayed at all the places you mention in your original post. Of that group, I would go for Paris or Monte Carlo in that order. Both of them are above the TI IMHO.

I've been to Paris a few times and it is clean and in a great location. I haven't stayed at the other places but think I'd be happy at MGM.

But figure out what show(s) you want to see and you could base your hotel choice on that. If you are planning to see The Producers and Anthony Cools then stay at Paris. If you want to see Ka (or, even Zumanity), then the MGM would be a good choice.

Joe, there's not much to say except it was dirty. The carpet hadn't been vacuumed in years, the bed linens were grey and rough, and the bathroom was filthy. Scum and hair everywhere.
