Hi Mike,

I have just returned from 5 days in San Francisco and assuming you are not spending all your time at the airport (SFO!!-Sorry) here is a brief list of what I did last week ( The tempreature was in the 70's, no wind, brilliant sunshine and got sunburnt on my face)

Visit Alcatraz by Ferry ( get the first ferry at 9:15 with Blue & Gold as it tends to be quieter) it is a marvellous ride and it is worth seeing

Take a cable car ride ( Powell Street Line is more scenic but gets busier during the day.earlier on the cable car back from Fishermans wharf is quieter- the California line is quieter)

Vist Coit tower on Telegraph hill for great views ($3.75 for the elevator which takes you up 200+feet)

Hire a bicycle by fishermans wharf and cycle past Fort Mason ,Crissy field and over Golden Gate Bridge for great views on a good day ($14 to hire a bike) 2hours round trip minimum

Visit the USS Pampanito (WW2 submarine), the Liberty ship and the Hyde street pier with restored ships

Chinatown

Ocean beach ( N line street car)

Fishermans wharf

Ghiradelli Square and have some ice cream and sodas ( very good).

Take the F car line (historic trolley cars from Fishermans wharf along the Embarcadero.

Take a ferry across the bay to Sausilito ( nice small town on the side of the bayand hill , Tiburon or Larkspur.

Have a great time

If you want a guided tour of Chinatown with a dim sum lunch after, try Wok Wiz.It was alot of fun. You can book with them online before your trip.

As a lifetime resident of SF I have to include a little truth in advertising: The last two weeks - Feb 20 to March 4, were blessed with perfect weather. You were very lucky Gregory. Weather like that, any time of year is unusual, and incredible!
