4 days in Vancouver, what to do?

Hi! My family is off to Vancouver so my wife can attend a conference there in mid february. This leaves myself and my 3 year old daughter at something of a loose end, as I am unfamiliar with Vancouver, having been there only briefly in the past. Any tips from any of you Vancouverites or other knowledgable parties on how to keep a very hyper little girl used to the constant stimulation of Hong Kong life entertained for a few days? I will have a car, so transport is not a problem. Advice on good child friendly restaurants serving quality cuisine would also be much appreciated. cheers.

I live in the Vancouver area. She probably would like the imax theater, it has 3d movies. It is in Canada Place. A ride up grouse mountain for the view is nice. Or the suspesion bridge in North Vancouver. We have an aquarium at Stanley Park. And you can rent bikes etc. to ride around the park. There is a Science center with a great theater above. A trip to Vancouver would not be complete without walking down Robson St. Lots of restaurants down this street to choose from. Planet Hollywood, White Spot etc. Have a great time.

This is great! 4 days in Vancouver with your 3 yo; you will have a great time. Good suggestions above, here are some more ideas. Don't miss QE Park, the artium gardens inside the geodesic dome are terrific. Your child will spot all kinds of wonders including very colorful birds. Stanley Park Zoo is one of Canada's best. The suspension bridge discussed above may be a little scary unless you child is bold. There is one at Capilano Canyon that's a bit pricey and one at Lynn Canyon that's free. You might check what's up at Ex Park. There are rides and events there. The Museum of Anthorpology at U.B.C. fabulous. There are numerous great beaches nearby, Spanish Banks, etc. Granville Island is another must, there's a public market and a children's mall plus rides on the little foot ferries are fun. They also offer reasonably priced boat rentals there. Like ethnic food? Try Mootai for Chinese, or various dim sum places in China Town, my kids love dim sum. Also, Rubina Tandoori is an inspiration of Indian Food that kids find surprisingly delicious. Finally, the ride up Grouse Mountain on the Gondola is sure to be a thrill, you may cringe at the price but go anyway. Have fun. Vancouver is one of the world's finest cities, you're daughter will think Dad's a gas!

Hi, I recommend visiting: Stanley Park, the Aquarium, go around the seawall on a bike, drive around Stanley Park. Canada Place, the Tourism info center accross from it.(Ps. get a free downtown map) Science world. The museum of anthropology, native artifacts & totempoles. Granville Island. The Vancouver Museum, experience a extraterrestial space ride in a simulator, its totally cool & great for kids! Next door the Vancouver Maritime Museum, ships and more of that stuff.Go by seabus (leaves from the CPR station, bottom of Howe str.) to Lonsdale quay and visit the Local public Market.Go by car over the Lions Gate bridge, stay in the right lane onto Marine drive and turn left at Capilano Rd. Drive up to the Fish Hatchery and visit the Capilano regional Park, a little higher up the Cleveland Dam, on the same rd. you will find Vancouver's oldest tourist attraction, The Capilano suspension bridge, kids love it! Ps.write me for more info, I am a local tourguide. Kind Regards Marcel Jonker.

My favorite place in Vancouver is Van Dusen Gardens. Pack your three-year-old into a stroller and immerse yourself in some of the most beautiful gardens in North America. Will be lovely even in the (very) mild North Pacific Coast winter.

Hi! My husband and I are going to Vancouver in late April from a Wednesday to Sunday. Sort of a leave the kids at home and get away for a few days kind of thing. We would like some suggestions for hotels and daily activities. We love the outdoors and enjoy walking, biking, etc. We love the coast and water/harbor areas. We will rent a car, but enjoy some place centrally located for walking.
