3 Moms/3 Teens-which hotel in South Beach??

3 Moms and 3 18 year old girls are all heading to South Beach this Spring - want a nice hotel on the ocean side for under 255.00/per night - any suggestions. I have stayed at the Royal Palm a couple of times and The Richmond Hotel, but want to try something different - any good tricks to getting good hotel rates?? Thanks!

I think I've suggested this to you before but The Loews would be the best for kids.

The Raleigh has a pretty hopping pool party on Sundays. You may not want to subject your teenagers to that.

I just love Priceline. I got the Royal Palm there for $102 a night. We had a beautiful oceanfront room.

Go to biddingfortravel.com and see what 4* hotels are coming up in South beach lately.

Nina, when did you get the Royal Palm for that on Priceline? Was it spring time? I am interested because I am also thinking of South Beach w/my teen daughter for first week of April.

I got it for January.

It was a really nice hotel for the money, right next to the Loews, it's a great location if you don't have a car.

I would also suggest the Loews. I stayed there before and really like it.

Lowes rooms start at $500 and up from there for 1st week of April. I don't know exactly when in spring ballet is going, but she asked for <$255...

emd, the first week of April is Easter and hotels get peak rates.

$255 is certainly do-able most times during the spring outside the weeks before and after Easter.

GoT, we also looked at Loews Miami beach for April 20-24, and the lowest rates are $429 then, two weeks after Easter...

Mea culpa my bad.

I've seen the Loews as low as $159. South Beach is once again 'hot'.

The Loews is WAY out of my price range - the week we are going is Easter and rates are up there - anyway I did the priceline thing and got THe Bentley Suites on Ocean Drive - has anyone stayed there in the past 6 months or so??? Wanted to get the Royal Palm and usually I have in the past, but not this time.

Congrats, I haven't stayed there but it's a good location and it looks like a really nice hotel.

Would you mind sharing what you paid?

I paid $231.00 per night - so maybe I am feeling better about this hotel after looking at their website - but then sometimes you can not go by websites. It says 510 Ocean Drive - does anyone know how far down or blocks from the most northern section of Ocean Drive - near Starbucks

I think you need two hotels -- one for the moms, one for the girls.

You may want to consider taking a day trip to a different beach. South beach is the most crowded and disgusting beach I have ever seen. I walked it for a half mile and saw many broken beer bottles, tampon aplicators and other things. Also, if you're a prude, there is topless sunbathing.

Please note that I have lived on the first coast all my life and have seen beaches from Hawaii, California, all over florida and the golden isles, and france. South beach is the worst by a large margin as far as trash. Otherwise, the water and sand are nice.
