3 hours in LAX

We are stopping at LAX from 6:40 to 9:20 for a 3 hour layover on our way to San Fran next weekend. Any advice as to what we can do? Thinking about taking a cab to the beach for sunset. Will we have enough time? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Think you should just stay put. LAX is a big airport and you might have to change terminals. LA traffic can be terrible. Think by the time you arrive and get settled, the sun will have set!

My advice: Stay put.
Assume check-in time is a half hour before your flight. That really gives you a total of about two hours to kill. Which means you'd just about have enough time to go somewhere and turn around and come back (without seeing anything). Save your sunset-viewing for S.F.

The restaurant at LAX (the one that looks like a spider - I keep forgetting the name), is actually pretty good and you get a great view of the sunset there. Since you'll be there around dinnertime, you can accomplish dinner, sunset and staying put all at the same time!

I second the suggestion on the "restaurant that looks like a spider". It is called the Encounter and its a nice place to spend a couple of hours.
