3 days enough?

Hi, my hubby and me are planning a first time visit to Las Vegas in the middle of May 2004....plan to only be there for 3 full days...is this enough time to enjoy most of what Vegas has to offer? we aren't gamblers but will do a little, and look forward to walking the strip to see neon, people watch...then a good show or two...thanks for the input...alehar

We live in LA and we do w few Vegas trips each year. We have tried the traditional two-day weekend (not long enough) and longer trips, which usually end up being too long. We have found three full days in Vegas to be just right. I mean, after all, how many days in a row can you stay up toll 5 am?

Be sure to have a martini at Red Square in Manadaly Bay!

I agree completely with the above. I'm not a gambler and think 3 days in LV is the perfect length of time. There's more than enough to see and do to fill 3 days, but sensory overload begins to wear most people out about that time.

Yes, plan on walking alot, as first timers, we spent the first two "full" days walking the hotels (from Mandalay Bay on one end to Venetian on the other).

3 days will be a great vegas trip in May. It should be warm enough for the pools. Definately plan your days and nights, otherwise they slip away from you. Use Fodor's information when planning activites, especially the free things. That's what I did for my first trip and it worked great. I didn't get to everything on the list, but then it gives me reason to go back.

Agree with Nittany about walking the strip. Very fun, but it is long. The first time we were staying at Luxor and walked to Bellagio (for fountains and Dale Chihuly ceiling art in lobby). Didn't even make it to Venetian until a later trip.

Enjoy

3 days is a nice sized trip for Vegas. If you want to look at neon, most of your walking will be at night. Plan to do other stuff during the day, then. There's a lot of good shopping and great restaurants to visit during the daylight hours.

The Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay is pretty fun as well. Another idea is an afternoon show. I recommend Rick Thomas at the Tropicana. It's a magic show and quite delightful (white tigers and all). Also, many hotels have spas. There's nothing like treating yourself to a facial and massage after a long walk the night before!

About walking... Just remember the strip is longer than it looks. It's hard to make good time when the sidewalks are packed with people. There's also nowhere to sit on the strip. If you want to people watch outside, there's an indoor/outdoor cafe at the Paris that's quite nice. I can't say if the food is good, but we've been tempted to request a strip side table, just to watch the world go by. Have a great trip!
