1st time to Napa/Sonoma
We only have 2 nights but 3 full days to enjoy WINE country for the 1st time ever!! Please help us find the best area to stay...we found that a lot of the wineries we want to visit are north of yountville but we would also like to visit sonoma for a day trip--since we are going in a couple weeks it would be a plus to enjoy a place that has springs/pool/spa for relaxation in between.... any suggestions? calistoga? yountville? any other area we should consider?

We did a tour of Sonoma Valley 4 years ago. We went with a tour company in a mini bus. They picked us up close to our hotel in San Francisco, but they also pick up at hotels in the Sonoma area. The driver asked us (4) and 2 others, what type of wines we liked, so tailored the tour round that, 6 places and a stop for lunch in Sonoma. We asked for smaller to medium sizes operations, not the mega producers. Each one a winner in our eyes. The company was called Terrific Tours, and they lived up to their name, big time. Our driver was, I think, Ryan, but he may have moved on by now.

We just left a rental in Sonoma this past Monday. our favorite tasting was combined with a cave tour at Schramsberg.... I never knew I could like sparkling wines, and I joined their wine club. Oyr guide's name was Rimple ( or sounded like) and he was fantastic!

We are staying at the Hotel Yountville in Yountville. You might check that out. The Calistoga resort and Spa has mineral baths.and the Calistoga inn looks really quaint or there are mud And mineral baths plus great food at Solage.
Enjoy.
