Amtrak has added more cars to the Pacific Surfliner trains to handle the people who have to get from Santa Barbara to Ventura and points south. There will likely be more people on the southbound Coast Starlight into Los Angeles for a few weeks.

I would venture to say there are at least as many, if not more, people who need to get to SB from Oxnard, Ventura and Carp for work. My SIL works at Cottage Hosp. which was paying for some employees to use a hastily organized boat shuttle operating between Oxnard and SB. The service was originally to operate through Friday (yesterday) on the assumption 101 would be opening on Monday. Not sure if it will continue indefinitely as these are excursion/whale-watching/island-sightseeing operators with businesses to maintain. However, this is no time for area hospitals to be understaffed or underequipped. Perhaps the Coast Guard will take over...?
