No need to delete. They have gotten some good constructive advice on handling the trip, if they want to take it.

We've made a similar trip with our 2 teens girls... we flew in SLC, rented a van, drove to THe Grand Tetons (stayed at an awesome cabin) for 3 days, then went to Yellowstone for 4 days. After leaving there (going through Bear Tooth Pass) went to So Dakota - driving through Montana. Went to Mt Rushmore(where the girls said, after 10 min, can we go now)!!.It's not very exciting, but a landmark nonetheless. then we drove all the way back through Wyoming to go back to SLC to fly home.. it was a lot of driving, but the majority was worth it!!

Another trip we took included many of those places, and is do-able, but again A LOT of driving.. We flew into San Francisco, stayed 3 days, then rented a van and drove to NAPA valley, then on to Yosemite(which is BREATHTAKING)spent 2 days there. Then went back to Monterey, stayed, and down the CA coast Hwy. Spent the night in Bakersfield. Then drove 8hrs to the Grand Canyon, after leaving there we went to Zion Ntl Park(2 days) and then on to Las Vegas, where we spent 3 more days before flying home.About 15 days all together.. GREAT TIME AND MEMORIES!

sydsam: The OP hasn't been back since posting on July 31 - doubt they will see your information.

Another trip included more of the places you want to see..and as you can see, you can't really do all that you want in one trip.. it took us 3 different ones.

We flew into Reno, NV (2days),Placerville, CA(1 night)(for white-water rafting), then to Lake Tahoe(which is SO beautiful!)(4 nights), then down the line staying 1-2 nights in each of Yosemite, Kings Canyon Ntl Park, and Sequoia Ntl Park, after that we drove down to LA for 3 nights then to San Diego for 2 nights before flying home.. These trips were AMAZING!! And we're planning another one right now for this summer.. going from San Francisco to Vancover..

janisj - it doesn't matter that the OP is not around. I came across this post and found it really helpful - especially sydsam's posts since my family is a similar makeup. These aren't just about the OP for sure. Thanks everyone who posted for your insight!

I concur with Spirobulldog's seasoned observation:

"I never understand why people choose to spend 3 hours in each national park and 20 in a car. "

My wife and I are going back (been there before) to Kanab area next month. We plan to spend two full weeks there - only in that area.
