1 week in California

I will spend a week in CA in late December and am looking for places to visit. I've already been to LA, SF and San Diego as well as the parks in Southern CA (Death Valley, Joshua Tree and Anza-Borrego) and would like to go to places I haven't been to before. Any suggestions? Note: I don't sky.

Monterey, Carmel and Big Sur? San Luis Obispo, Hearst Castle and Cambria?

It looks like you are interested in places of natural beauty. I'd suggest Yosemite and the central coast, particularly Big Sur. Definitely squeeze in a day at Hearst Castle.

Skying is like standing on these boards and you slide down a big hill in the snow...it is fun, duh, try it, you can run into a tree.

Skying aside--it's pretty wet and dreary right now in Northern CA. I would base in Santa Barbara or somewhere in the Santa Inez valley and then visit wineries and missions in the area. When you get a forecast for a good day make that the day you drive over to Hearst Castle and/or Big Sur. Even Monterey and Carmel get a lot of fog late December. If the day is pretty, however, it can be great there.

Ojai is an intereting part of California and has Los Padres forest in the eastern part. Shangra La was filmed here. From here you could do day trips to Santa Barbara and the wine country. Will probably be dry and relatively warm.

North Shore Lake Tahoe is beautiful, and there is a lot to do besides ski or sky. It's a beautiful place and so is Mt. Shasta area. Good luck and God Bless.
