1 Day in Orlando: Theme park?

My husband and I are going to be in Orlando mid-October and have one free day which we would like to spend at either MGM or Universal Studios. Please help us to decide where our time would be better spent. Thank you in advance.

Haven't been to Universal Studios, but MGM was by far the favorite of my two daughters. We spent two whole days there, and weren't bored. Especially recommend the TV studio where 25 or so lucky people are incorporated into classic videos at each show.

I have visited Orlando several times and have been to both parks. MGM is a good park, but I found that it was geared more toward children, ie., Aladdin, saturday morning cartoon shows. If you are two adults travelling with no children I would highly recommend Universal. The shows at Universal are geared toward older children and adults. Some of the rides at Universal include: King Kong, Earthquake, Jaws, Back to the Future and ET's Adventures just to name a few. You will walk out of some of the rides awestruck. It is by far our favorite park in Orlando. Have a great time!!

Trying to choose between MGM and Universal?

No contest - Universal all they way.

I spent a week in Orlando last year and was totally disappointed with MGM.

Hi!
How sick do you get on rides?
My family has done MGM 3 times and Universal twice. My family liked MGM better because, for
most of the time me and my daughter sat outside of the rides waiting for my son and husband to get through the rides at Universal. When they finally did get off they both complained of being sick feeling(especially after the Back To The Future)ride. So Universal was'nt very fun for us. On the other hand MGM was great! The rides consist of sitting in cars on tracks and going through that way. Also Honey we shrunk the Audience was good. My vote is for MGM! Have Fun!!!!

Went to both parks last January. I was originally going to say MGM (if you do go to MGM, DO NOT miss Tower of Terror), but after I relived my visit to both parks, it's hard to make a definitive choice. Once you went through a few rides/exhibits at Universal (with the exception of Terminator and Back to the Future which were both awesome) you kind of knew what was going to happen. Jaws, King Kong and and Earthquake were all rather lame, in my opinion. The food options were better at Universal, however. Even though we are adults, I enjoyed the Disney-themed shows (Little Mermaid) and the ride shows as well at MGM. Perhaps you can get the Unofficial Guide to WDW which highlights all the parks, decide what is important to you--rides, shows, Disney, etc., and make a decision from there. Their rating system on the events in all the parks is pretty close to the mark, so you can use them to help you decide where to go. BTW, I think "Honey I Shrunk the Audience" is at Epcot, but it's one of the most fascinating shows I saw in all the parks combined.

If you want attractions geared toward audience participation, try Universal. However, if you are looking for rides, do not miss MGM's Tower of Terror. I would make the trip again simply for that one ride. It was fabulous.
