Looking for 1 bedroom suites with comfortable sofa beds in the living room? I've been looking for hotels in midtown, or upper west side, or upper east side.

For example, Kimberley hotel? Interesting prices on 1 bedroom suites with sofa beds. I don't know how 4 nights on a sofa bed would be though...

Try www.affinia.com. I know they have one bedroom suites with sofabeds at the Shelburne Murray Hill, and probably most of their other properties. Comfortable? hmmm...... that's another matter.

Unless a hotel had one of the top-of-the-line sofa beds, these aren't the best for sleeping or comfortable for more than a day or two.

We stayed at the Kimberley several years ago. It is like a renovated one bedroom apartment with a kitchen. Our kids were small back then so they didn't complain about the sofabed. It is in a good location for walking to Radio City area.

Don't know if the Salisbury is part of the Affinia group but it is worth a look. The Benjamin (which is part of Affinia) is supposed to be very nice.

4 nights on a sofabed is only for
kid(s), imo. All the "all suite" hotels with 1 bedroom suites have sofabeds in the living room. The Affinia 50, the Affinia Dumont and the newly renovated Affinia Lyden Gardens would have newer furniture than other options.

I think some of you are right about sofa beds only being for the young ones. I'm not in college anymore... I don't know what I was thinking, I guess it's not worth the $$ saved.

We stayed at Murray Hill Suites last year. Our teen daughters on the sofa bed in the other room and they were fine. This is a renovated apartment building so rooms are much larger and have kitchen and dining area. No website...just found them through recommendations on this site and then looked up phone number. Great location, quiet, clean and very nice.

Amelie, perhaps you'd care to share the makeup of your party and your desired budget/night and we could make suggestions. Some of the all suite hotels have 2 bedroom apts. that might work. They're not necessarily cheaper than 2 rooms though depending on time of year. The Salisbury has 2 bed/2 bath suites. The Best Western Hospitality has 2 bedrooms but I think only 1 bath. Then there's the option of renting an apartment if you don't mind giving up daily maid service. There you could get 2 bedrooms and prob. a much cheaper price. I agree that the Affina group has excellent i bedroom suites. Eastgate Towers (also an Affina hotel) has 2 huge queen sized beds in the bedroom and a queen sized sofa bed. The suites are spacious with 2 bathrooms. Good Luck

The two are mutually exclusive, even at better hotels. The only way I can sleep with a sofabed is to put the mattress on the floor and I'll only put up with a sofabed for a one-night stayover. They ARE for kids.

You might try the Embassy Suites. I haven't stayed at the one in NY, but we stayed at one in Washington, DC and my teenager said the sofabed was very comfortable.

A sofa bed was my only bed for five years after college. It's amazing what doesn't bother us when we're that young.

Many years later, I did experience the most amazing sofa bed in a B&B out west. I think the owner had them custom made. Every adult had the opportunity to sleep on it and we all agreed, for a sofa bed, it ranked very high.

Now, I couldn't imagine enjoying sleep on a sofa bed after a long, busy day walking around NYC, unless the hotel offered a featherbed top and some really great goose-down pillows.

When are you going? Marriott will soon open the Residence Inn in Times Square.

We are going end of June / beginning of July. It will be myself, my husband, and his parents. At this point we are debating between The Beacon, The Excelsior, and the Best Western Hospitality House. Trying to spend under $200 per night, per couple.

The Marriott Marquis has one bedroom suites with comfortable sofa beds (at least our daughter said it was confortable). Nice views of the Hudson as well.
