Winter Vacation

Hello all, we are looking for suggestions for somewhere to vacation in December 2015, after Christmas, from approximately December 26- January 3. There will be 5 of us traveling, 2 adults, 2 -19 year olds & a 13 year old. We have no idea where we are looking to go or do, we were considering a few things, such as a cruise to the Caribbean, California or Arizona. We will be traveling from NJ. We are looking to go somewhere with decent weather, someplace with a little adventure but also relaxation. We haven't set a budget yet but don't want to spend too much money (limit to about $1,000 per person?) We would appreciate any ideas and recommendations! Thanks

I'd re-post on the US and/or Caribbean forums.

You do have one problem -- that is a very busy travel time and airfare to most anywhere but especially to popular/warm destinations will eat up probably half+ of your budget.

Agreeing with janisj above, most places really upcharge over the Christmas/New Year's holiday week.

I know my favorite hotels in Puerto Vallarta (just an example) double their rates at that time.

I think you are going to have trouble finding $1000 trip (assuming you mean that includes airfare, lodging, food, activities).

I am also agree with both of you janisj and suze. Really in that time most of the hotels double their rents and i think it is not enough money for this trip.

With that budget it may have to be a cruise out of NYC.
