What do you think is the best destination for a first-time solo traveler, and why?

Hi, I think NYC is a good choice. It was my very first destination as a solo traveler. I loved it so much. The key to enjoying a place like NYC is to plan ahead so that you'll get the most out of your stay.

Although not a beach resort, Tahoe has everything..and the casinos are a perfect evening activity for singles as most people there are usually by themselves so you can be very comfortable. The lake is great in late fall--with lots of water sports and there is hiking to last a month.. if you're bored, you can head over to San Francisco.

I went to Chania in Crete. Stayed in a little pension place and met a huge number of people, mainly women like myself. We often met up in the evening to have dinner after doing our own thing during the day. Perfect.
