I'm going on a long haul flight with many hours in the air and airports. What book should I take on the plane? Nothing 'heavy' please in both senses of the word. ' Couldn't put it down' suggestions is what I'm looking for.

I like Daniel Silva's mysteries for long flights.

I now have an iPod, and for trips I load books on tape (borrowed from the library) and podcasts - no more heavy books!

No, just listen. I totally agree about "real" books, usually, but on a trip I'll sacrifice that in exchange for less weight (and more books).

to eliminate the weight of books & still be able to read them, an E-book fills the bill. There a several to select from now - Kindle, Nook, one more can't remember the name.

I love my Sony Reader and never travel without it..
Also, look into books that are set in your travel destination.

I read pure trash on airplanes. Usually a romance, a simple story that I don't have to concentrate to hard, I don't have to finish it if it bores me. I like Susan Elizabeth Phillips. She tells a good story and she's funny.
Another funny author but not romance is Christopher Moore but if I lost one of his books, I'd want to know how it turned out later.

If you've got a smart phone (like an iPhone) you can read books on your device. Really, realy lightweight since you're likely already bringing it, and you bring as many books as your heart desires.

I love my ebook too - I have a Nook. Great for travel. I used to have to take several books on long trips and that took up a lot of luggage space.

As for what to read - last year for an overseas trip, I read the Twlighlight series.
