vacation break
Hi friends!
I am planning a trip to Colombia for 2 weeks beginning on june 27th. I am a female traveling alone (which I am quite used too). I am wondering if it is safe? From what I have read so far, I think I will head to Tayrona and just stay there and chill for a bit. I am a bit of a nature freak and it seems like a gorgeous place. If anyone has any tips at all for that region, or the surrounding area's (hotel's, beaches, park's etc..) I would love to hear them. I am literally going blind and don't have the time to do too much research.
any sort of suggestion is really appreciated

Hi Rachel, I am so sorry about your vision and pray it will improve. We have church members who visit Colombia often to work at an orphanage there and from what they have told us I would not advise you going there to travel alone. If you love nature, I could recommend Costa Rica. There is more indigenous wildlife there than almost anywhere else in the world. In addition, lodging and food can be extremely inexpensive and the people are some of the nicest we've met. The surrounding countries of Panama and Nicaragua are beautiful as well. Good luck in your search!

Great spot for a splurge in Cartagena.
In Bogota I love the northern area by the airport
least dodgy best lodging Chapi Norte for Hostels
SPG.com Sheraton or Marriott for hotels
paisatours.com good general info for you.

You definitely need to re-post this on the South America Forum. (see the 'Change Forum' pull down menu? )
Many more people will see/respond over there. This one is more for general travel discussions and not destination-specific questions. Most of the area experts never look at this board.
