My roll-up toiletry bag! Bought it 10 years ago from The Body Shop in preparation for my first out-of-country trip. Toiletry bags have come a long way since, but I can't find any as good and versatile as this. Comes with standard hook, as well as four zip-pouches made of mesh that are velcroed to the main back. If I'm packing conservatively I can fit everything I need -- medications, makeup, shower essentials, toothbrush and toothpase, you name it. It rolls up and packs up into a small- to medium-sized "block." When I'm using the contents, like makeup, I can rip off one bag and set it on the counter, and then stick it back with the rest when I'm done.

1. Alka Seltzer - when you travel you're bound to try new foods and some don't sit well.
2. Freezer size zip lock bags - good for storing shampoos, food, or perfume, plus they are impossible to find outside the US and it's re-usable especially for wet bathing suits
3. Universal adapter, not just the one for the one country you're visiting.
