A resounding yes to all of this although I have taken public transportation to the airport in London for short hops across the channel (and those were the rare occasions that I used carry-on too since those trips were usually only three or four days). And while I don't mind accepting a lift to the airport if anyone offers it, I don't like being picked up there at the end of a trip. For one thing, you never know how long it's going to take to get to the gate, get off the plane, get your bag etc. I had a friend who once insisted on picking us up and then was so anxious the whole drive home because she was going to be late for something else. I just want to get in the airport limo and not talk to anyone for the whole drive.

I never argue with the customs agent and have begged my SO not to joke with them either, no matter how pretty the young lady is and how charming he thinks he's being. In fact I prefer to use the Nexus machine even when there's just a few people in the customs line just so I don't have to talk to the agent at all.

I never ask anyone to give me a ride to or from the airport. We either drive ourselves or take a taxi/uber. I've always found it odd to ask someone to inconvenience themselves to start me on my way to my vacation. If I can plan and afford a trip, I can manage to get myself to and from the airport.

I have also read no shorts in Europe which is ridiculous!
I also bring a pair of jeans to Europe as well as shorts.

Definitely drink on planes, especially long or overnight flights.

I always laugh at show advice because all our feet are different. I would wear my Nikes everywhere. Pack that huge ass bag but don't ask a soul to help you get up or downstairs.

Same. Though we have one friend who practically insists on driving us to the airport for overseas trips, and we accept because she's such good vibes at a time when I tend to be jittery. Also, we are flattered when our son asks us to drive him and his family to and from, if for no other reason than we get to hug the bugs.

My older sister expects to be driven to and from the airport. I think it's a holdover from the days when my father went on frequent business trips and my mom or one of us would drive him to and from SFO, simply because taxis were quite expensive from our house.

Ugh. I'd never ask. And try as I might, I couldn't get that friend not to pick us up although she never asked again, thank heavens, after it made her late for her appointment.
She's a lovely person and very well intentioned and she's much (MUCH) nicer than me but sometimes her good intentions result in more negative than positive. Once, in the worst year of my life, when I was recovering from surgery which was the least of the horrible things that happened that year, all I wanted to do was to be left alone with my books and the remote and have no one talk to me. She drove me so crazy about wanting to do things for me that I finally had to make up a couple of errands to make her feel better. I know...I'm a b!tch.

My oh-so worldly businessman pal twice insisted on driving us to the airport. Both times, he was late and then was cavalier about that. Can recall sweating bullets while stuck in traffic both times, trying hard not to say bad words. While smiling.

Another time, we'd invited my NY friend and current secret agent, to join us on an Egyptian trip (get it?--yellow for sand?). He had just divorced. *Without warning, his ex suddenly arrived to take us to the airport! It was not entirely clear why that transfer was happening, given the profound bad blood between them. Awkward and somewhat uncomfortable.
Again, smiling all the while. (get it? sunglasses for secret agent?)

We drive and pay to park. If going alone we take each other unless he books a 0 dark 30 flight. He can pay to park. But my one friend gets someone to drive her all the time.It is out of the way for us to pick her up so never offer. We can also uber it.

It costs $30 a week to park in long term parking at my local airport; it's cheap and we always drive ourselves.

My in-laws always get rides and they live 60 miles from the airport. Not worth the hassle to me, but whatever...

I had a neighbor drive us once offering to pay and she refused and I bought her a Vera Bradley bag which she absolutely loved. I rarely ask anyone to take us to the airport. I also hired a neighbor's kid to drive us in our car, hold the keys and pick us up in our car and paid her cash and she liked it. She was in high school at the time. Our other neighbor stopped her in the driveway and asked why she was taking our car, lol.

When we go to Israel, if all works out this fall, I am hoping my mom, she's 81 can handle it and drives us to the local airport. We arrive back in an airport 2 hours away which we have already rented a car to drive and drop here in our little town.

More like $30 a DAY here (Seattle) -haha- and I still might do it for a short trip.

To be fair, a week at SEA is still a fair bit less than $200.

General parking at SeaTac in the garage is $32/day. Or $39/day for a priority space be a bit closer to the terminal. I just priced it for a trip in a couple weeks.

There is a weekly rate at a discount. As an aside, the "priority" space at SEA is the dumbest thing I've ever encountered.
