Not all passports have a "signature box" - some just have a "signature line. So, first question is - What country issued your passport?
Second question - How far "above the line" is your signature?
I suspect it is not a major issue since most people & officials who will be looking at your passport are just checking to see if it is signed and won't really know the specific requirements of your particular issuing agency.

Unless they've changed, the UK passports I've seen just have a small blank area (maybe what you are calling a 'box') with a line at the bottom. I honestly don't see what your issue is. It is a blank area to sign -- precisely on the line, or in the blank area above it???
