Removing the challenge from the context of Potts' individual experience, it's probably more of a question of testing your own personal limitations rather than completely embracing it as a travel style forever - newbE's argument seems to be going that way too.
Still, you're right, TiggerToo, to each his/her own, it doesn't make you a hero, it's just a fun experiment, helps you get to know yourself better

<It was liberating. >
mlgb said it, but yes, Unboundly, that's what I think. No way would I travel like that forever! But the modest moves I've made toward packing light have made me feel freer, so I can only imagine that going even lighter could be pretty interesting. I'll post if I ever do it, lol.

I need at least a backpack.
I need one two books a shaver underwear for several days my laptop and charger and some space to bring back gifts for my daughters.
That is when I am alone.
When in family .... 15 Kgms per member per week is our norm
Does it qualify for light packing ?

Been travelling around Asia and Australasia for the last year with carry on only. Very liberating.The weight of our bags fluctuated between 7-12 kg. now that airlines have started reducing the amount of carry on allowances, next time we would take even less. Although, as yet we have not had a problem on any of the 20+ flights we have taken.
Could I do it with no bag at all - possibly but I doubt anyone would want to sit next to me on the plane after travelling for a while
Bizarrely, I have found the longer the trip, the less you need. Started off with 6 pairs of underpants, now down to 3. Biggest weight/volume issue has been the number of adaptors needed for phone, iPad etc. for the various countries.
