Has anyone ever packed one in a large standard suitcase rather than a garment bag? What works best in terms of preventing wrinkling- folding in half at very top, rolling the garments...?

Wrapping it in plastic dry cleaner bags.

I roll several layers of tissue paper and stuff the sleeves. Then put in plastic dry cleaner bag (no hanger) and pack it flat.

I use the Eagle Creek folders, and it works fine.

Otherwise, I would wrap it around other clothes. For the pants, for example, put another pair of pants with them and fold both pants together, with the suit pants on the outside. For the jacket, do the same thing, but fold it like a men's shirt from a store, so that you don't crease the collar.

If it is a wool suit, then the wrinkles should fall out relatively quickly, as long as you don't wad it into a ball.

Thanks for the suggestions. Before seeing these replies, I had packed the pants then jacket flat at the very top of the suitcase. It worked out just fine- the garments came out virtually unwrinkled!

The fabric of the suit makes all the difference.
