Italy in September
Hello,
I'm 24 and thinking about making the plunge into "solo traveling". Would love to go to Italy in September, but not sure of which tour group to go with. Contiki is really not my thing, as I'm not interested in the college scene/getting drunk every night. I'm also hesitant to go alone and dont have millions to spend (to say the least). Any suggestions?

At the age of 29 I took a tour with Globus called Italian Mosaic, the tour was great, a nice mix of people: retirees, families, honeymooners, mother/daughter combos, myself and one other solo traveler. I was one of the youngest people there but did not mind too much since I don't drink. I was there to explore Italy and loved it. I'm not sure what your budget is - Globus is mid-range. You could also try Trafalgar Breakaway tours (21-38 yr olds), Cosmos or Intrepid. Good luck with your search! I hope you will be able to make it to Italy, it's lovely. In fact, I'm going back there in September but on my own this time, no tour. The tour I took four years ago was merely an introduction, yet it gave me the courage to wander on my own a few times and all went well.

Hi there
I'm also taking the plunge into solo travel. I decided to do a Trafalgar breakaway to Italy (Viva Italia) on Sept 22. I didn't think Contiki was my thing either, but I found this and I'm really looking forward to it. Try poking around their message board for some insight.
Good luck!

Hi there,
I am also traveling solo in Italy in September! Did you decide to go? I feel the same way about Contiki... I have three weeks by myself and I don't want to be alone, but I'm not sure if it would be too frat-y. Let me know if you are still going and where you were thinking about visiting!

Hi,
I'm 24, female, not really the type to travel solo and entirely scared that I'll end up miserable, but I was all set to go to Africa and my travel buddy rather inconsiderately backed out last minute. I'm still dying to get out of the States, either to Africa as planned or really to anywhere else amazing. Any suggestions/advice? Anyone else kind of ambivalent about traveling alone who'd like to coordinate? Any help would be massively appreciated!
