Beach Vacation Ideas
I'd love to take a vacation towards the end of May this year, for about a week or less, but don't really know where to go. Any input would be appreciated!
Here's a little bit about me and the type of place I'd like to go. I'm 39, female, single, and would probably travel solo. I'd like to go somewhere warm/hot, on the beach, about 75% relaxation on the beach, and 25% sightseeing or activities (seeing what's in and around town). I'd prefer to stay away from locations that are all couples. In or out of the US is okay (don't have passport, but could get one).
Any hotel recommendations as well? Would like a place a little more "upscale".
Thanks for your suggestions!

Good point about the passports above, since it's already April.
ok then, how do you feel about Waikiki? It's lots of fun and plenty of upscale options. All kinds of people vacation there from all over the world (not just couples).
Also you don't mention where you are flying from. Hawaii is easy from the west coast, but much more of a major trip is you are east coast (assuming USA?)

The beaches on Cancun are absolutely beautiful! I had the best time there. However, it's not a place I would suggest a woman to go to traveling solo. Another place to go to with great beaches, sightseeing, SHOPPING, and good food is Puerto Rico. I've been twice and plan to go again as soon as I can.
Have fun!

Thanks for the great ideas!
The travel.state.gov website has options to obtain a passport w/in 2 weeks, but it would definitely be easier to travel w/in the US so I don't have to rush to get one.
I have only had a handful of "real" vacations, but they did include Oahu and Maui. Oahu was pretty built up. I live in Hermosa Beach, CA (near Los Angeles), so I see enough of the city life here. I only stayed 2 days in Maui, so that might be a good place to revisit, relax and explore!
Thanks again for your input.
