Advantage Rent a Car Honolulu... Beware!

BEWARE! EMPLOYEES HAVE LIGHT FINGERS!!My wife, daughter and friend returned their rental van to the check in area for ADVANTAGE at Honolulu airport on Nov. 17th,2019.After dropping off the vehicle with the employee, they went thru security, realizing they had forgotten items in the back of the van. My wife immediately called the ADVANTAGE desk at the airport, only to be told that they would have to check and call her the next day. It was distressing considering my wife was still at the airport having only dropped off the van minutes before...Today is Monday Nov.25th. 2019 and we have been told that no items were recovered. There is NO WAY that those items were not located in the van by the ADVANTAGE employees, as they had been worn and changed out of on the way to the airport.!!!We will NEVER rent from Advantage again...and will inform everyone we know travelling about their hiring of criminals. KNOW THAT IF YOU FORGET ANYTHING IN YOUR VEHICLE WHILE CHECKING IN...THE EMPLOYEES TAKE IT HOME!!HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!* The company was made aware of EXACTLY what was taken and when...and if truly was interested in locating the items, could easily know who was working what shift and where..But they did nothing. Are there not security cameras in the area? Airports are now some of the most secure places in the world. We expect to see management post their standard 'cut and paste' reply that they submit for any negative review. So far..no response from Advantage for our claim.Really shameful .

What EXACTLY did they leave behind in the rental car, that you believe was then "stolen"? If it was worn beach clothing perhaps it was thrown out by the cleaning crew?

Not going to debate it with you here.. but I assure you ..it was NOT worn Beach clothing. It actually was clean cold weather clothing(my daughter clarified) to be changed into at the airport, as they were heading back to a cold climate...

They have the claim.

**Worried about your job??

You've got to be kidding? I'm sitting here in Seattle. I have nothing to do with the Honolulu airport other than I flew through it a couple weeks ago coming home from a delightful vacation in Waikiki.

Just wondering what it was that was left behind. Since you never actually have stated that. Why won't you tell us what it was that you believe was "stolen" after they left it in the rental car when they returned it?

Oh OK you added the information as I was typing.

You previously said: as they had been worn and changed out of on the way to the airport.!!!

What on EARTH would folks in Hawaii want / need cold weather gear for? You registered to post your rant, then attacked someone who posted a reasonable explanation based on the info you provided between the all the shouting. I doubt many will pay much attention to you.

It got your attention..didn't it?

Who's shouting?

What does it matter what the items were?
If they were diamonds..would that make a difference?

Read the post...my wife called the rental desk immediately after going thru security..while still at the airport.

Whether a bathing suit or a Hugo Boss suit..the items were still in the back of the vehicle and miraculously disappeared.
True story.

Simply a word of caution for others.
My daughter in the rush to return the car, did forget the items. She accepts that responsibility.

You can choose to pay attention or not...Advantage is who I am holding accountable.

For the record:
I have now been in contact with Advantage 's Social media person and they are looking into what happened..... I will update the outcome.

My review is also in no way a reflection of my view of the Hawaiian people.

This happened...we are honest people that just wanted someone to care enough to investigate.

Update: Advantage makes it right

I thought I would let you know what has happened since I posted my warning about our experience when we used Advantage Honolulu.
I was contacted by their social media person who said they would get in touch with management to look into our situation after I posted my review on several sites.
We later heard from Marc Earley, Manager at Honolulu.
Advantage did go back and review the airport security tapes and found that in fact, as we had stated,an employee had stolen my wife and daughter's items that were in the van.
They managed to recover only her prized hoodie.
The thief was working for an outsource company they use and has been terminated. The hoodie was mailed to my daughter and she has been compensated for the other used items.
It's unfortunate that it all had to transpire in this manner, but we are appreciative that Marc stepped up .
