I was in Argentina 5 years ago and remember how strong the dollar was. The cost of food, clothing, and lodging was rather inexpensive. Will be visiting again soon, will things be the same?

Annual inflation has run between 20 and 30% per year. Expect costs to be at least double.

According to travelers I met on my trip last month, Argentina is now one of the "expensive countries" along with Chile and Brazil.

The way I see it, food and particularly public transportation are still cheap, albeit comparatively more expensive, in dollar terms, than 5 years ago.

Although you will find it a lot more expensive, it is still a value for money destination. If you stay away from the trendy/touristy restaurants you can still find an excellent meal for a very good price. Public transport is still a bargain and walking around enjoying the city is absolutely free.

We were there last year, actually, 2 years ago now. I would not call Argentina 'cheap'.
But like anywhere else, you can find different levels of $$ prices for lodging, meals (sandwich vs sit-down meal with wine), transportation (flight vs bus), etc.
