South America Cruise
Haven't been on for awhile, but would like suggestions please. Husband and I (Aussie's and both in our 60's) would like to do a cruise of South America Oct/Nov and we are debating 1. Puerto Rico down the east coast with an Amazon river cruise included to Buenos Aires ( 24 days) or 2. Rio to Buenos Aires round Cape Horn to Santiago,(16 days) then back to Australia.
any experienced travels here to help?????
Thanks

My only experience is a Cape Horn Cruise (visiting the Falklands) from Santiago to Buenos Aires..fantastic scenery. I would gladly repeat that routing. Was very lucky in that I caught a last minute deal during the first year that Zika broke out..I assume many last minute cancellations although not much risk on that routing. I've been to a small section of the Amazon out of Iquitos but staying in a lodge, not cruising except by canoe!
Not sure about your timing, mine was around Easter.
There was a great mix of nationalities on board. I went with a lower end company, NCL, but it was fine, really, and made friends with the cruise lecturer who had done that route over 40 times!
Probably would have a look at Cruise Critic and see if others can advise on your options and the cruise lines you are looking at.
