restaurant near the Quito Sheraton

Our plane arrives in Quito at 6 PM and we will be staying at the Sheraton. Can anyone recommend a good (but reasonably priced) restaurant within walking distance of the hotel? We will have been traveling all day and would, I imagine, enjoy stretching our legs.
As an alternative, how are the hotel restaurants?
Thanks

We stayed in the Sheraton in the northern part of Quito in Sept., 2009. (I don't know if there could be more than one.) We ate dinner at the hotel's restaurant several nights and found the food to be delicious. The breakfast buffets were heavenly too. Of course, this was 2 years ago, so things could have changed.

how far is Zazu from the Sheraton? Is it walkable? Will we need reservations on a Monday or Tuesday night?

Hey, Zazu's nowhere near the Sheraton! Walk down the Republic of El Salvador street, the Sheraton's street, and you'll find some good restaurants at an apartment building across the street.

Is it safe to walk down Republic of El salvador street after dark in December. (Probably 8:00 PM) I have read so much about the dangers of walking after dark. Is this neighborhood safe? I am from New YOrk and know how to be cautious in cities but we will be tired after flying most of the day.

Mmm try "Romolo e Remo" (Ave. República & Irlanda) or "Neu Bistro Restaurant" (Le Parc hotel, also at Ave. República & Irlanda); this is at walking distance from the Sheraton; have a good one!
