Iguazu Falls---how to see it
Hi. We've got 2 nights at Iguazu Falls. Looking for advice on best way to see the falls. I've read you don't need a tour and can take a taxi instead. Any details are much appreciated.
Thanks

We just visited both sides of the park, Brazil and Argentina in late Nov by taxi arranged by the hotel. It was arranged a day before we arrived Puerto Iguazú. We stayed at the Iguazu Jungle Lodge, which is not in the center of the town, not convenient but they helped us with the taxi picked up from the airport and also arranged transports for us to the Brazilian side on the first half day when we arrived. We also took the taxi to the Argentina side the second day arranged by the hotel. You should call the hotel and ask them for the services.
Airport to hotel: 12500 peso each way
hotel to Brazil side and waited for us (4 Hours), then back to the hotel: 30000 peso total
Hotel to Argentina side of the falls, then picked us pack to the hotel when we finished around 4pm: 25000 peso
For convenience and safety and also saving time, we were happy to pay for the taxi services
We stayed 2 nights and had one and a half day to cover the parks with a boat ride to the in the Argentina side which we totally enjoyed(drenched).
The hotel we stayed was not convenient walking to the town but it was fine with us as it was over 90 degrees to walk around anywhere except the falls!
Hope the infos helped. Enjoy the parks!

You are correct that you don’t need a tour. We did it once by bus, which is straightforward enough but takes a little time as you need to wait around for buses to depart , switch buses at the border crossing for the Brazilian side, there and back etc. Hiring a taxi and arranging for them to pick you up and drop you off is very easy and relatively cheap. You can source a taxi through your accommodation, though they will likely add a commission which makes it more expensive. We just had a chat with the driver who picked us up at teh airport, did a deal and effectively he took us everywhere we wanted to go over teh two days we were there, including a trip to the supermarket to stock up for a bbq one evening, taking us to bothe sides of the falls and back to the airport.
The Argentine side needs a full day. Our MO has been to get there for opening, get teh train to Garganta del Diablo and work our way back. This seems to be the opposite of most visitors so we had fewer people at each site for teh morning at least. The Brazil falls take less time, say half a day.
