I wouldn't pay a premium for El Albergue although I wonder if the price is because they have run out of the standard rooms. The basic room price is around $84 USD with discounts for multiple night stays. I'm not sure how you came up with $200, are you sure it isn't in another currency?

Are you looking on their own website?

I'd add a caution if you need vehicle transport to the hotel. Some don't have access even by the mototaxis. If that is an issue for any of your travel companions be sure to read the TA reviews.

Another upper end option on the road to the station is Pakaritampu and those do start at nearly $200.

We paid about $75 for our room at El Albuerge, but it was two years ago (wow, I can't believe it was that long ago - March 2014!)
