Help requested for Feb itinerary for family

Hi,
We are a family of five, including kids 10, 10 & 5. We are planning a trip to Colombia this February. We have been in several countries together, including Venezuela, Costa Rica, Morocco and some European/ Asian countries. In Costa Rica, we had rented our own car, while in Venezuela, we had hired a driver. Renting a car usually works best for us with the kids, but it seems that in Colombia, we would have to rely on public transportation. Is it really not possible or feasible in Colombia to drive? If not, do you guys have any suggestions for a driver that we could hire for the trip. Or should we stick to public transportation (the + there is experiencing locals, the - is loss of flexibility). or maybe a mix.

We will be flying into Cali and flying out of Bogota. Most to our interest is experiencing outdoors and culture - more than buildings, museums and other structures. Very high on our itinerary are going to be Valle de Cocora, Los Nevados National Park and a coffee plantation. Could someone please help me with our itinerary.

Was there recently prettiest Colonial city

nicest natural areas around Cali

sort of an ugly dodgy city of extremely beautiful women.

spent time did adventures from there last fall had a blast.

fly www.aires.aero to BOG for adventures from there.

You do not have a lot of time make more if you can...

Too dodgy for car rental for me overland always hire

driver guides overland from $50 per day...usually cheaper

than rental...Happy Journey,

1.1/2 hour from Bogota, Villa de Leiva, you can take 2 days in that area, so much to see.

Oh there is a lot you could do. Cali for starters is a really friendly city in my opinion and depending the time of the year there is also a lot to see. I don't remember much about Cali though, but remember having a lot of fun in this lake "Lago Calima" I'm pretty sure was the name. There you can even go hiking if I'm not wrong.
As to Bogota, that one I know it better. There are PLENTY of parks and tourist places to visit. On the top of my head, I'd recommend "Maloka" to you and your kids. That place is probably a not so special place for american people, but I found it quite amusing. It's kind of a museum, yes, but it's almost 100% interactive.. There is this dome theater, and a ton of fun activities that at the same time teach kids the fun way about all kind of things; human body, space, the water room is quite awesome, too. In my opinion that's a good place to go.

Of course there are more typical tourist places like "La Candelaria" and "Monserrate" Those are usually a bit too crowdy, but it is beautiful nonetheless. The "Zona Rosa" it's a GREAT place to hang out. Lots of chic little restaurants and it is overall fairly enjoyable.

Oh, and you'd like to stop by "El parque de los novios" I loved it there

Hi,
After some other posts and reading, I have come up for the following itinerary for our travel later this month. This is for a family including kids, and we will mostly be using public transportation.

Day 1 - Arrive into Cali in the evening
Day 2 - Cali - San Cipriano
Day 3 - Cali to Armenia - parque or panaca (*which is better?*); overnight Armenia
Day 4 - Armenia to Salento - coffee/ fruit vegetable farms; overnight Salento
Day 5 - Salento - Valle de Cocora; afternoon/ evening travel to Santa Rosa Termales; overnight Santa Rosa
Day 6 - Santa Rosa to Hacienda Guayabal in Chinchina - overnight
Day 7 - Los Nevados tour/ travel to Bogota by night bus
Sat 19 - Bogota
Sun 20 - Fly out from Bogota in AM

Thank You.
