YouTube videos are often pretty good at showing what places are like, esp. if you look at enough of them to get a broader picture.
Of the three (Morro do São Paulo, Boipeba, Barra Grande on Marau peninsula), they are listed here in order of more commercial ( ie more tourist traffic and more infrastructure) to more off the map. Coming from the south, Camamu would be the first jump off point, for the boat to Barra Grande. Both Morro and Boipeba are accessed from the port in Valenca, or you can go to Morro and get a day trip by boat to Boipeba.
The other factor to consider is how comfortable you may be with getting around in an almost assuredly all Portuguese environment. By the time you get to the area, you should have a better idea of this. I can't really say since my Portuguese is good, but maybe more tourist movement, more chance of finding an English speaker of some level, if that becomes a factor. ( don't know what kind of travelers you are, so....)
Hope they treated you well at the Consulate's new location. (At least the old one had some chance of on-street metered parking.)
Keep in touch here as departure time comes near, or even if you need info during and can find internet access (usually not difficult).

Hi Samba Chula,
My wife and I returned from Salvador two weeks ago. I want to thank you for all the information you provided. The people of Brazil are the warmest, helpful, and hospitable that we have met in our travels. We loved every minute. The Hit Hotel was an ideal location to the beach and the bus to Pelourinho. I did meet and get our umbrella and chairs from Paulista. He even acknowledged us the next day as we were walking on one of the side streets from the beach. Our stay in Boipeba was outstanding. We took the speed boat from Valenca. The Santa Clara Pousada was owned by Charles, an Anmerican, from NYC. It was like being in the South Seas. His brother, Mark, is the chief at the restaurant which was excellent including breakfast. We even got invited to a private party on the beach by the owner of Luar das Agus. Victor our host was terrific. Our stays in Ajuda and Itacare were also wonderful. Both pousadas were excellent. In A'juda we met some wonderful people, Samuel, the owner of the Piazza Cafe who introduced us to two of his friends, one Sergio Becker, a sax player who we got to see perform. In Itacare we went to probably our favorite beach, Itacarezinho. I enjoyed especially Salvador, the people, the culture, the true Brazil. My wife wants to make up t-shirts that say, I rather Bahia. Thanks again. We plan on going back since our visas are good for ten years.

Hi Nick! What a great trip!
I'm so happy that you enjoyed yourselves so thoroughly in a place that grabbed my spirit so long ago, and that you seem to have gotten hooked on it too.
Glad you met Paulista. He and his wife also live in the neighborhood near the beach where they work. Good people.
I will remember your suggestions for Boipeba the next time we go.
Hope you took lots of great photos to look at once in awhile, until you can get back.
It's been great exchanging info with you. Best wishes for further interesting travels in Brazil, and especially Bahia.
Sorria. Voce estava na Bahia.
