Contact Lens Care in Developing Countries
(Please excuse the repost. I inadvertently typed "content lens" instead of "contact lens" in the title of my first post)
I'm going to Peru (Lima, Cusco, Sacred Valley) in a couple of weeks. I'm concerned about handling my contacts after washing my hands in the local water (even with soap). I use the daily disposables that come in their own little pod of solution.
I thought about using the disinfecting gel to wash my hands, but am concerned that it would irritate my eyes.
I suppose I could wash my hands with a disinfectant soap (eg, Dial or Safeguard) and then rise them with bottled water.
Any tips? I certainly don't want an eye infection while I'm gone!
Thanks.

I use the same lens and frankly hadn't thought about it until you posted. Haven't had a problem in developing countries (including Peru) but maybe you should use hand sanitizer beforehand.....I think I will now!

My husband didn't wear his contacts while we were in Peru because we had read it was very dry (we went in dry season). Not sure that holds true in rainy season - maybe the altitude still affects the humidity? Showing that I am no scientist -- anyway, he was glad to not have to fool with them. FWIW.
