One poster recently responded on the public forum to an unwanted solicitation on PM. Nothing was done. No one dares protest lest they themselves be banned for voicing the complaint. A number of people simply quit posting in disgust. Others were banned. Various frequent posters own businesses and use their names and posts to solicit business quite often it seems. The moderation is a joke.
You may speak of current DEs perhaps, but the soap opera on that forum has been ongoing for a decade or more. For example, the DE whose photos of working girls and encouragement on where to find them now is DE for a town with similar trade on another forum. A still current DE once told a woman with a medical problem enquiring about public restrooms to go pee on a tree. A slew of complaints resulted in the offending post, not the DE, being removed, and such informed posts continue.
The soap opera continues over there.

Technically, you are correct, AV. Two of the DE's from BA are 'involved in the tourism business," but only one is involved in the retail/business part of the industry. The other DE does not work for an agency involved with selling tourism related services to the public. Hence, no need to solicit buisiness.

The DE who is involved owns several apartments but mostly rents to long standing clients. He no longer handles BA rentals himself since he now lives in the States and has moved into other business ventures stateside.

I can't comment on what happens when unsolicited PM's are received. I can say any complaint received about solicitation on the forum is dealt with promptly and the offending post is deleted. Repeat offenders re banned by TA. It surprises me to hear that the same policies might not be in effect in other locations since all complaints are handled by full time TA staff rather than local volunteer DE's.

I'm happy to be "technically" correct, Doc.

Furthermore, Doc, would it be "technically" correct to say that it is blatant self promotion to post the following and use as your avatar your firm's logo?

"I own several rental properties in Buenos Aires and almost all of them are already booked for December and several for January as well. Sure, there might be something left but the best options will get taken soon."

Please let me know if I'm also "technically" correct about the above, Doc.

Two thoughts and a wish:

1. dr__dawggy, there was a definite (ostemsibly female) poster on TA/BA who was soliciting for sex. The posts were removed, fairly soon. Sorry you missed it...you must have been sailing

2. I have a friend who WAS a poster on TA/Istanbul who, so very much like the Rooster, is intelligent, knowledgeable, of invaluable help to OPs - and he 'told it like it is'. He was removed from posting on there, and he now posts excellent information on Fodors.

3. My best wishes for a Peaceful Easter Season to all....

Let's see if we can all agree on this:

Certainly on this thread and usually on this Argentina forum, our disagreements remain quite polite, or vanish pronto.

Does anyone agree or disagree?

Marnie, we are on another cruise this week. If any more solicitation for sex posts show up please copy and paste to an email to me . Attach a photo and any available price information.

Ok. Enough of this back and forth. I am off to explore the 7 seas.

And here, in the spirit of celebrating our togetherness, is a bit of samba chula, roots music from Bahia:

More on this:

I called http://www.tiendaleon.com/resultados/busqueda/remis/ and asked how many people their PRIVATE transfer (which costs 57 dollars) can carry and they said up tp FOUR persons. In my OP I said I was not sure about whether it was three or FOUR.

So, if you are a party of FOUR, this service, which is the best available in our airport, will cost you 57 dollars.

According to their website, VIATOR would charge the same party of FOUR 215,96 dollars, or almost FOUR times what Tienda León charges.

I rest my case, as a lawyer would say.

Have a great time in my town and avoid paying for wildly overpriced transportation.

@eandrear--- Suggest you brush up on your English before launching into an almost unintelligible tirade about something you clearly misunderstood when reading.

Had to ask Google about that one. Didn't find it, but apparently it stands for smiling from ear to ear. LMAO!
