Blue dollars in Argentina
At the risk of being outed as totally naive, can anyone tell me how to get "blue
dollars" in Buenos Aires?
I had one disastrous attempt at changing money with a person not connected
with government: I changed money at the Pakistan-Afghan border while taking
an Afghan bus from Peshawar to Kabul. I was caught by the customs officials
and thought for sure I was gonna end up in an Afghan jail. I talked my way
out of punishment and was grateful to get back on the bus with no further
hassles. I've been leery of changing money with blue marketeers ever since.
Any ideas appreciated.

My crystal ball is sort of hazy, top poster crellston.
If our dear government goes on doing what it is doing, the peso should go on losing value.
The only thing which could generate a stronger peso would be a favorable expectation related to what the NEXT goverment may do on the economic front.
In the meantime, have a great time in my country, at 40% off!

A "trusted contact" was provided to us by our apt. landlord in Buenos Aires a few years ago. We used him once and we also used xoom.com to send ourselves some money in Argentina - to be picked up at an office there - at a much better exchange rate than the official one - though perhaps less than the blue rate. . check it out. Super user friendly site and customer service. Though think you need to provide an address and phone number in Argentina. Just used that of place we were staying.

And now you want to go do it again?

Insanity: Doing something over and over and expecting different results.

Yes, the OP can do it again, HERE.
Two reasons:
1) Our dear government will steal from him over 40% of his money, if he goes to a bank or uses an ATM.
2) If the OP goes to the right place, it is perfectly safe.
Have a great time in my country.
