4 Nights in Iguazzu - stay in town, jungle or?
Spending 4 nights on Argentinian side of Falls (flying up from Buenos Aires) and am undecided whereabouts to stay. Definitely not the Sheraton as we have long enough that adding a few taxi rides is cheaper than staying in the park. I was thinking of 2 nights in town and a couple of nights out of town in a more jungle environment but husband not keen to move hotels. Also, can anyone suggest what we should actually do with our time. Best bits; parts not to miss; is it worth going to the brazilian side etc?
We are middle aged English people but my husband is virtually fluent in Spanish and could probably get by in Portuguese as well.

I thought it was worthwhile visiting both sides, and since you are English you don't need a visa for Brazil. One day for Brazil, one day for Argentina, maybe a third day for "experiences" - boat rides etc. I didn't bother with the experiences and thoroughly enjoyed my visit - http://mytimetotravel.wordpress.com/...y-spectacular/
Not sure why you would want to move out of town, plenty of jungle around the falls, and then you would have the issue of where to eat.
I don't speak Portuguese or much Spanish, and had no trouble, it's an area very used to tourists. Check the bus timetables at the bus station and you should be all set.

Thank you thursdaysd and I've especially enjoyed your blog. We've planned to go back to Buenos Aires after Iguazu and then go across to Colonia and Montevido before flying on to family in Santiago. Any tips on Uruguay?

As an alternative to going to Uruguay via BA, you could get an overnight bus via Salto. It is a bit of a jaunt but effectively takes no longer than returning to BA. For more info on Iguazu and Uruguay, see our blog @ http://blog.travelpod.com/travel-blo...ai/1/tpod.html . Montevideo is good for a day or two, don't miss the market as the parrilladas are just unbelievable. People seem to either love or hate Colonia. I loved it but would recommend avoiding it at weekends when it is inundated with weekending Porteños. I would agree with Thursdaysd re sleeping on old Monte, better to stay out by the beach.
We stayed for 4 nights in Iguazu and enjoyed the time there. I too see no point in moving out of town. We stayed at the Marco Polo Hostal which was convenient for the bus station, restaurants etc.
