Iguazu falls-coming from Brazil and wanting to sleep in Argentina

We'll be spending 2 weeks in Brazil and want to visit Iguazu falls for 3 nights--flying in from Sao Paulo to the Foz do Iguacu airport. However, we strongly prefer to spend the nights in Argentina where it appears the accommodations are more to our tastes (B & Bs). Does anyone know the logistics of doing this? How long would it take to get from the Brazil airport (Foz de Iguacu) to one of the Argentinian B & B's? Would we take a taxi? Would that be very expensive? Except for the fancy Hotel das Cataratas, it looks like the accommodations on the Brazil side are drab. We were considering the Hotel San Martin, since it's close to the park, but I still am hoping for Argentina. (Flying from Sao Paulo to the Puerto Iguazu airport in Argentina is not an option--we'd spend 8 hours and hundreds of dollars!)

Genoise,

It is possible to get from the Brazilian airport to the Argentine side of the falls. We wanted to save a little money so we took a bus from the airport to the city Foz de Iguazu and then a bus from outside of the Foz de Iguazu bus terminal to the Argentine side (Puerto Iguazu). If you want to take a taxi or hire a driver through your hotel, that would work as well. I would guess it would be $25-$30 USD, maybe a little more.

If you are wanting to take the bus, the bus stop for Argentina in Foz de Iguazu is just outside of the bus terminal (I believe to the north. It is a wooden bench with a sign above that says Argentina. Tell the bus driver which hotel you are staying at and he will most likely drop you off if it is on the way.

Let me know if you have other questions!

Make sure to spend at least a half-day (preferably a full day) on the Brazilian side. Although I didn't stay there, Hotel Cataratas in the park on the Brazilian side certainly looked like a nice hotel, and more or less equivalently placed to the Sheraton. I'd probably spend 1 night there, and 2 nights at the Sheraton. (I had three nights at the Sheraton and did a daytrip to Brazil.)

I just left Iguazu today. We arrived to Foz de Iguazu on the Brazilian side on Wednesday but we were staying in a hostel in Peurto Iguazu. When you come thru the airport (Foz) you can't miss a desk where you get a taxi ticket. Taxi took approx 30 minutes and cost 80 Brazilian reals.

Iguazu is amazing - you will love it !!

If you end up staying in Puerto Iguazu rather than near the park, the public bus system to the park is easy and cheap - 10 pesos return

Thank you all for your help. We'll be staying at the Secret Garden B & B on the Argentina side. It gets great reviews on Trip Advisor. Our host will pick us up at the airport in Brazil and drive us back after 3 nights. Price: $70 (American dollars) round-trip.
