BA-Mine Hotel, Tryp Hotel or Ayres de Palermo..in late April!
So, I booked Argentina, take two. As many of you know, I had to cancel my first attempt due to health issues. I have rebooked the flights, leaving late April. I have 5 nights a the beginning of my trip and 2 nights at the end in Buenos Aires. My original trip had the Ayres de Palermo booked, and that was were my friends stayed. I'll get a de-briefing from them on that hotel soon. It appeals to me because they are suites with a little kitchen and living area.
Where I really had wanted to stay was the Mine Hotel, but it was just not in my budget and I was concerned that the room would be too small for me and my husband. However, the more I plan this trip out...again, the more I wonder if I should just go for it, based on it's stellar reviews and great location. The Tryp Hotel looks great as well.
I need opinions PLEASE! I am in my 50's, my husband in his 60's. We are pretty active and well traveled. He tends to stand out a bit. He is a big sort of biker-hippie looking guy with a ponytail to his waist. That sort of is a security in itself, wherever we travel. We want to tour, walk around...do lots of stuff day and night. Where do you think we would be most comfortable and SAFE...or where were YOU move comfortable during your trip to BA? We don't need a pool this time around. Late April should be pretty mild.
Thanks!!! XO Seeks

Hmmmm, that's a possibility that I really didn't think of. Our last trip was with a group and we decided not to do an apartment. My only hesitation with an apartment is that with a hotel or B&B you get the great experience of meeting others. Having breakfast, getting help with daily planning, etc. I will keep it in mind though. It's a great value!

Skarry-What street is the building on and what are the cross streets? I didn't notice that information available when I looked at the apartment. And does the building have a name?
Also, how did you find out about that apartment? I'm not quite understanding what you've written when you say that you "have" an apartment. Are you the "owner" of the apartment that you're talking about and are trying to rent it out, or are you a "renter" of the apartment that you're talking a about?
When I was in Buenos Aires in Dec 2008, I also rented an apartment and in a less than year old, upscale and very modern building. I was in Palermo Hollywood. I went through www.expedia.com to get it, and without having to pay a deposit, although apartments in my same building were also listed on www.buenosaireshabitat.com., but required a deposit equaling the equivalent of a week's rent.
The building of the apartment that you've mentioned looks very nice. However I would want more than 40 square meters of space. So, are other apartments available for rent in the building?
A lot of buildings are popping up all over the place. Many foreigners are buying vacation apartments in Buenos Aires. Happy Travels!

OK. I see that it's a VBRO listing which is a company that I'm familiar with although I've never rented through them. But, I'm a regular to Paris and rent there and know that a lot of people rent apartments through VBRO for Paris rentals. Happy Travels!

Hi, Can some folks please help me with my original question? I would love these hotel opinions based on comfort and location. I just think that a hotel might be more fun for me. And seriously, Guenmai, when I hit on your name and go to trip reports I only get three and that particular one just doesn't come up like it did the first time I saw it. I can't explain why. Could you make it a link on this thread and I'll go to it from there? Thanks!
