Do I need to pre-book travel & Accomodation in Peru?

Hi, I will be in Peru in July, do I need to prebook travel (buses etc) and accomodation before arriving? If so any suggestions? Thanks

It would depend entirely on where you are going. If you are going to Cusco, it is the peak month there, so it might take a bit of searching when you arrive and the best choices might not be available.

We were in peru in august and sept of last year and booking places as and when we moved on from place to place. You will always find somewhere to stay in all levels but not necessarily your first choice. as far as the buses and trains were concerned, we often had to move our travel dates a day or two because they were fully booked. If you are visiting for a comparitively long time as we were then this is no hardship. But if you are on a tight schedule I would advise booking in advance as I would if there are any specific hotels you wish to use. Staying in budget places does offer greater flexibility simply because there are more of them. If you want to take the train to Aguas Calientes then I would suggest booking this in advance if poos, or at least make the booking office at the station your first stop in Cusco!

July is a very busy time for travel in Peru, especially the last week of the month when Peru's Independence Day falls and everybody is traveling. I'd start booking things now.
