Request for help from airline experts here, please
Hello!!
No doubt many of you know how daunting the planning of airline flights is for me. I am prepared to do my research but maybe you all can point me in the right direction. One factor to keep in mind is that I do not want to book with a third-party entity like Expedia.
Because I want to book directly with the airlines, I am seeking guidance in how to book the following flights for mid-May of this year. Strong preference is for direct flights.
Outward: NYC area airports to Naples
Return: Bari to NYC. ( a few months ago we flew Bari to JFK but had to change at FCO; but I think there are direct flights now....
Who do I go to for this---ITA? United? (never flown the latter)
At this point, the milage programs are secondary to the convenience.
I'd appreciate any help, as I think that time is getting short and I ought to have done this weeks ago....
Many thanks..

United has daily nonstops from Newark to Naples in mid-May, and nonstops from Bari to Newark 4 times a week (Tu, Th, Sa, Su.). It's a simple open-jaw route; use the "multi-flight" (or similar titled) option on United's website.
