Cherry Blossom Festival 2026
We are seniors that want to experience the Cherry Blossom Festival in 2026. We don't want to deal with the nightmare traffic we read about. We'd like to fnd an area where we can get an Airbnb near a metro line that is safe even possiblly in MD or VA as long as we are close to a Metro Line. Thanks for any help in this matter.

Depending on your price point, the Logan Circle Metro in DC is closest to the festivities. You'll still have to walk from either Smithsonian or Federal Triangle to reach the Tidal Basin (where the majority of the blooms are).
I can't speak to Maryland as I live in Virginia, but any airbnb along the Orange/Silver line in Virginia will work, as well, as long as you don't go further west than the Vienna station, lest you have at least a half hour transit to Smithsonian. I, personally, would choose an airbnb closest to DC as possible.
Hope this helps.

I don't know what the previous message is referring to, there is no "Logan Circle Metro".
Why do you want an Airbnb? A hotel would be a lot easier and there are regulations about Airbnbs, some are illegal. I don't know about in NoVa suburbs but I know DC has regs. You will have a lot more options with a hotel, and they are closer to metro stops.
Something near the Courthouse metro in Virginia would be good. In DC, something near Foggy Bottom metro, Farragut West or even the White House would be good in DC. The Dupont Circle area is nice but you have to transfer once on the metro line. Not that big a deal but some may think so. Of course there are some hotels not far from Federal Triangle stop, mainly the JWMarriott, I guess.
What events do you want to go to, or just to see these trees? There are some parades and events on Constitution Ave and Pennsylvania ave which is right near the Wash Monument area and the JWMarriott. There as also something like year at Warner Theater.which is also near that JWMarriott.
These were the events last year

"there is no "Logan Circle Metro"
Thank you for the correction. I meant to write that Logan Circle is near the Farragut North Metro Station, which is on the Red Line and requires a change at Metro Center, or, depending on the location of the airbnb/hotel, is an easy walk to Metro Center.

I am not sure what the fixation with Logan Circle is all about, but if the OP stays there, two metro stations are a closer walk than Farragut North.
All the metro stops in Virginia on the silver/orange line or the blue line (the Smithsonian line) will be safe areas. There is a Hyatt Place right by the Courthouse Metro in Arlington. Another option, in DC, is the ARC hotel in Foggy Bottom. This is a lovely, safe area. You are a very quick walk to the Foggy Bottom Metro.
Are you looking to put your car somewhere?
You will walk a lot further from an 'air b and b' to a metro stop than you would from a hotel. For that reason, it's better to think of hotels. If you want to avoid price gouging, book early.

"Why do you want an Airbnb?"
Travelers have many different reasons for desiring an aibnb over a hotel. If I were asked this question, my answers (arguably food centric) would be because we are early risers and like to enjoy real coffee (not hotel pod coffee) often before Breakfast opens.
Because the standard hotel breakfast options aren't what we generally eat; and often because Breakfast opens hours after we have been awake; and because we like to eat before our morning walk or run.
Because we don't always like to eat dinner out when on travel; and sometimes prepping a simple supper in, or picking up prepared foods to take back to an airbnb is what we want, and don't want to sit at a desk or on the sofa and stab at our boxed food with plastic utensils.
Because Room Service either offers nothing that interests us, or because a Room Service Imperial Chicken Ceasar Salad, consisting of hand-massaged Romaine hearts; shaved Parmagiano-Reggiano flown in weekly from Italy; grilled chicken breasts from birds raised listening to Vivaldi (free-range, natch); and anchovies emulsified in single-source Tuscan olive oil just isn't what we want to drop $76 on.
On those occasions where we choose a hotel stay, it is usually because the stay is part of the travel experience (for example, the Iris Porsche in Mondsee, Austria; or the Serena Hotel Islamabad.)
