Hello , I am planning a Maldives trip this month (Flexible dates) and was wondering on best recos for a family of 2 adults and a 12 year old girl, focussed around great reefs and snorkelling etc. and a generally lovely stay. Some properties seem lovely but ultra expensive and some of the all inclusives seem really restrictive with the drinks and food options. And then some have extra costs for sea planes - I am not looking for a budget trip but also not looking for ultra expensive - pls. advise on 1) which beaches in july and 2) which resorts. Only been once. Lonely planet has a good guide book a few years ago that might help you. Sea plane flights really add to the costs. We had a meal plan with a cafeteria. Food was decent. We could however opt to dine in several other restaurants including Middle Eastern, Indian, Thai and Seafood.

Take a look at Bandos - my scuba diving spouse has been visiting for 25 years and still loves it. It's not ultra posh, but has all that one needs for a great stay.
