Visiting Yantai
I'm planning a trip from the US to Yantai in September and looking at Air Canada to Seoul then a one way flight from Seoul to Yantai on Shandong Airlines. Much cheaper this way. I'm going to book directly with the airlines. Return flight will be similar, flying via China Eastern from Yantai to Seoul and then Air Canada back to US. Has anyone done this type of trip or does anyone see any pitfalls?

In general, having separate tickets can lead to problems if a flight is delayed and you are unable to catch your next flight. If all the flights are on a single ticket (even if with different airlines), then it's up to the ticketing airline to get you to your destination, instead of you stuck at an airport, scrambling to find a new connection. If you proceed with this plan, be sure your layovers are long enough to give you at least a little cushion. And you might research the "on time" records of the various flights.

It is something that I frequently do in order to secure cheaper flights form the UK (where airport taxes are incredibly high) . I usual ensure an overnight layover just in case of delays and comprehensive travel insurance that cover travel disruption and delays. Fortunately Incheon s a great airport with some good accommodation options nearby
