Traveling the Oregon Coast with elderly mother
I am planning on taking my elderly mother to the Oregon Cost for two weeks in July. She walks everyday but has balance issues. Her ideal trip would include a friendly B& B in an interesting town and use it as a home base and take day trips. I'm unfamiliar with the Oregon Coast and would appreciate any tips or ideas. Many Thanks!

I think I would not stay for 2 weeks in one spot. I am not familiar with B&B's as I usually stay in a hotel or rent a house with friends. I think Newport is a good central location for exploring the North and south coast. I usually stay in the Nye Beach area at the Hallmark or Elizabeth St Suites. You can easily walk along the ocean from there into the central part of Nye Beach where there are restaurants and more hotels and shops.
i also stay in the little town Yachats- waterfront motels are the Fireside, Overleaf or the Adobe. The Adobe has a restaurant with a great view and there is walking path between the 3 motels.
You could drive inland from there into McMinnville for a day of wine tasting if you enjoy that.
A week in Cannon Beach is nice. Lots of restaurants, shops and a more upscale vibe than some of the beach towns.
There is an online publication you can down load " Mile by Mile Guide to the Oregon coast published by Oregon Coast Magazine. Lots of info there.
Hope you find a place to your liking.

For the northern coast I would stay in Cannon Beach which is a scenic coastal resort with Haystack Rock. South of town is Oswald West State Park which has lovely deserted beaches. Named one of America’s 100 best art towns it is is home to over 15 art galleries. Hike in Ecola State Park in the coastal rainforest.
A short drive up the coast is Astoria which has many colorful houses and older longtime residents speak with a Finnish accent. Lewis and Clark National Historic Park with the recreated Fort Clatsop. Visit the Columbia River Maritime Museum. Stroll on the Astoria Riverwalk. Ride the electric vintage trolley. The Cathedral Tree Trail takes you to a Sitka spruce which you can walk into.

I suggest, if your mother would like to have easy walking access to a beach from your accommodation, to scope out the lay of the land where you decide to stay. I mention it because I stayed in Newport at Nye Beach, a lovely spot but with a cliff above the beach & access via a steep walk.

Overleaf Lodge in Yachats is what I was coming to post as well. My parents (elderly) love to go there for long-weekends (they live nearby).
